Journals!

I got the bug last night to work on a couple new "altered" composition notebooks, or as I prefer to call them, journals! I went to the store and found a ton of new papers that I had to have...pssst, don't tell my husband! Well, here two of the books that I cranked out last night. I'm sure there will be several more in the works over the next week!! Keep your eye open for a new section in my Etsy store called "LaRee Papery" where these beautiful journals will be featured. Feel free to convo me if you would like something specific. Take Care!

New Obsessions

So winter is here and that brings about a new crafting season for me. You see, I help out with a winter fundraiser at my kids school. We create lots of pretty handmade things to sell in a school "boutique" for one night. Well here's some pics of some of the things I have created so far. I just love them!

Aren't these felt flowers great! They can be fashioned as hair clips, headbands, broaches, hat accessories....the possiblities are endless.

Next....

These books are good-old composition notebooks that have been recovered inside and out and then decorated with 3-d butterflies and inspirational phrases and Voila....a gorgeous journal. I kind of love it!!

Hope you do too!!!

Sidley Studios Giveaway!

I had a lovely morning enjoying a latte at Espresso Metro and having a delightful chat with a good friend of mine. Her name is Brandi Sidley of Sidley Studios. She and her husband are gifted photographers. They have the innate ability to capture a beautiful split-second moment that encompasses a childs entire personality, or a slight glance between a bride and groom that shouts to the world the love they share for eachother, and then freeze it forever in the form of a stunning portrait that will be cherished for generations...
We sat sipping our lovely coffee and discussing our business ventures and Brandi came up with a promo she is featuring on their "Facebook Friday" giveaway. Here's the deal:

If you schedule a Spring Mini Session by midnight tonight, to be done this Sunday, April 11th, you will receive a custom photo necklace (check out the previous post for examples) of your munchkins handcrafted by ME! Again, thats by MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!!

Your kids will only be this age once so let Sidley Studios capture it now!

Custom Kids Photo Necklaces

So I have a mom from school who wanted a custom photo necklace. I have been wanting to try it but, of course, I don't want hers to be the trial run. So I did one for myself and one for my mom. They turned out pretty cute and easier than I expected. The one I did for myself has my kids initails on the back. My kids call my mom "Nani" so her necklace has a "N" on the back. Of course I had to add some sparkle into them with some Swarovski beads and rhinestones. Gotta love the bling! What do you think?

Charm Bracelets!!!!

So I finished two charm bracelets. They were so much fun to do. The first was the mermaid bracelet that has tons of beads, mostly swarovski, and freshwater pearls. I LOVE the vintage mermaid and bathing beauty images....

I also did a custom request for a dear friend. She was needing a little something inspirational for herself. It is adorned with scrabble tiles that have inspirational sayings such as "Love" "Beautiful" "Family" and "Happy". I hope she likes it as much as I loved making it!

Mini Masterpieces....

Not my masterpieces, the real Masters Klimt, da Vinci....
I loved making these ones and turning these already stunning examples of artistic expression into miniatures. They are wonderful and the photoes just don't do them justice. Enjoy!

Newbie Here...

So here I am posting my very first blog. I have been trying to experiment with different ways to let friends know of the new things I have been doing and I thought I'd give this a try. Many of you know that I have been creating different types of jewelry for the last several years. I started out making presents for friends, which then turned into a jewelry line at a bridal shop and presently I've been working on more casual everyday pieces for my etsy store. A couple of years back I saw this idea for turning old Scrabble pieces into pendants for a necklace by decoupaging georgous papers on them. Since I am a person who gets easily distracted by new and exciting ideas I started creating these scrabble pendants and before I realized I had made almost a hundred scrabbles. I have sold many of them at my children's school fundraisers but seem to keep adding to my surplus when I am inspired by new beautiful papers I see. Again, this seems to happen since I am a distractable artist and enjoy the creation of my pieces more than the actually photograhing and selling of them. Well a couple of weeks back a friend asked for a couple of custom pieces she wanted to purchase as presents for others. I had finished the pendants and was evaluting my work and thought...they need a little something extra. I dug into my tresure chest of beads and added some Swarovski (BTW-my fave!) bobbles to give them a little bling. They looked fabulous! Then I look back at my old Scrabble pendants I have laying around and all the sudden these little tiles which I previously thought were so precious now look so PLAIN. So here I am again revamping my whole idea...Here's some pics of a couple of the necklaces I have done so far.

And of course thats not it...as I am going thru my stash of scrabbles I see a theme. Several "Paris" themed tiles, some "Mermaid" themed tiles and so forth. So what am I inspired to make? Charm bracelets of course! I have a couple in the works so keep checking back for pics as soon as they're done. Thanks for taking the time to read. Take Care!.............................M
